The scene depicts a typical Bahamian boat race usually held in August. The boats are specially built and manned by Bahamians. This kind of sailing is fairly unique to the Bahamas and parts of the Caribbean. Of all the races, the most famous is the Exuma race. This is truly exciting spectacle to watch. This scene was painted from memory and supplemented by photographs.
