| In the summer of 2002, while driving from Minden, Ontario, where I had been commissioned to do a painting of a cottage, I came upon this old, somewhat weather-beaten farm. I was especially impressed with the colours. It seemed to evoke a memory of times when buildings like this would have been a more common sight, and farming was a way of life for many. Eager to capture such a timeless memory, I took many photographs and made sketches and notes. On my return to my studio, this was the first picture I painted. |
